Choosing the right photographer for your wedding can be truly challenging. Picking the wrong one can be quite unpleasant, especially if the expectations you had in mind don’t align at all with the photographer’s style.
I truly believe that there are photographers for every taste, because fortunately, the world is diverse, and each of us resonates with people who share similar interests, lifestyles, or views on life. I’m writing this article while reflecting on an unfortunate situation that happened just a few days ago.

An Anecdote from My Experience as a Photographer
A bride whose wedding I photographed in September recently expressed disappointment with her wedding gallery, as it didn’t fully meet what she had envisioned. I asked her to better explain her concerns, and it turned out that the elements she was looking for were, unfortunately, worlds apart from my way of shooting, my philosophy, and my style.
A bit disheartened by the situation, I tried to analyze what had happened more deeply.
At our first meeting, as I always do, I showed the couple a sample gallery to present how I shoot and what my style is like. The bride told me she really liked posed photos, so we agreed to find some moments during the wedding to create those kinds of shots with her partner. Maybe she expected me to replicate the style of another photographer, because, in the end, the only feedback I received from her was: “I don’t like the photos, there’s not even one I could print and hang on the wall.”
These kinds of situations create tension—for both me and my clients. First of all, because they are unhappy with the service; secondly, because it leaves me feeling a bit bitter that, despite showing how I work and what my style is, that was somehow overlooked.
A heartfelt piece of advice to future couples: choose a photographer you truly love—both stylistically and personally. Don’t choose them based on price or how available they are to accommodate your needs. At the end of the day, what remains are the photos from your wedding. And let go of the need to control everything—trust your vendors and their creative interpretation. You’ll see, it will all turn out beautifully.
